Let me share a story that perfectly illustrates why we do things this way. Not long ago, a client reached out, asking for the cost of our ARIA InSAR corner artificial reflectors. We asked for a call. They refused—repeatedly—insisting they just needed the price for a grant application. They were in a rush, and thought a quick email would do.

But that’s not how we work. Our policy is clear: we do not give pricing without a conversation. So, I picked up the phone and reached this person directly. Within moments, it became clear that what they actually needed were high-resolution ARIA InSAR reflectors—devices meant for X-Band data from TerraSAR-X, not the C-Band Sentinel-1 devices most ask for. These high-resolution devices are significantly smaller. The shipping costs are 75% lower. Had we just sent a price, we would have quoted the cost completely incorrectly, and they would’ve never gotten the best solution.

That’s not all. When I asked if they knew where to locate the devices, it turned out they needed much more help than they realized. Help we provided for free, through a simple call. There is no substitute for good, open communication. We truly care about the work we do, and the work done with our work.

Our clients are so very often the consulting engineer between us and the project. This is a recipe for misinterpretation waiting to happen. These engineers often pass on a report from a provider like we are—a report they may, or may not, fully understand and which will be used to influence the projects they work on.
