One Wild InSAR’ship
Karl Martin, Let's Begin.
Over the past few months, I, Karl Martin Kaseorg, have unexpectedly gone from a regular Estonian high school student - who likes to talk a lot - to a summer intern at EO59. But how did this happen?
A year ago, if anyone asked me what InSAR was, I couldn’t give them an answer, even if I wanted to. Then after EO59 founder Carl Pucci’s lecture at my school, I honestly still couldn’t explain it. Yet I had still gained knowledge that day - I got to know about EO59 and one of the men behind it.
Then in the winter, Carl and I were, by both luck and choice, put in the same room again - he was going to teach a selective subject at our school. And I can not lie, that week with Carl Pucci was the most enjoyable learning experience I’ve ever had. You will see me in many of the photos wearing a red Chicago sweater! Cramming mathematical formulas has never been my favorite, with me being more interested in the more creative and people-oriented side of life, so the subject about starting a business, being unique and the importance of making an impression was a nice break from math and physics classes.
Making an impression is exactly what I did, since according to Carl, my presentation on theoretical improvements to theoretical issues as a theoretical CEO was amazing, and that is what gave me the opportunity of a lifetime - an internship at EO59.
Learning that the mission of EO59 is to bring make InSAR accessible and human this connection made perfect sense.
I made it!
At first, I was really happy and told the news about the chance I’d gotten to nearly everyone. Others were going to be doing customer service and flipping burgers and I was going to be working at an international tech company? Ha!
Did I?
Now for the issue I had to address after having bragged to half my social network about the internship - what is a humble Estonian Southerner supposed to know about InSAR, radar reflectors, programming and other miscellaneous …space stuff? How could I have possibly contributed to EO59? Errand boy? Coffee runs? That was a mystery that kept me pondering for half a year until it was finally time for Carl and Karl to meet again. Clearly, the best name ever. He explained to me what I was supposed to do over the summer. Not an errand boy, no coffee runs - but I am going to be writing …blogs? Well, that’s odd… Now a new question arose, that's going to have me racking my brain over the summer - why blogs? Clearly there was some mischief involved here to entertain you dear reader!
